Given the number of CMS sessions at this year’s conference, this article is worth reading.

A Microsoft-Red Hat warming trend? | CNET News.com
“The chief executives of Microsoft and Red Hat held a private meeting in New York, CNET News.com has learned, an indication that relations between the rivals might be warming.

Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer and Red Hat’s Matthew Szulik met for more than an hour at a McCormick & Schmick’s restaurant in New York in late March, sources familiar with the situation said. Microsoft initiated the meeting, one source indicated.“

NOVELL: Novell Announces Executive Departure
“WALTHAM, Mass.–May 9, 2005 –Novell today announced that Richard Seibt has resigned his position as president of Novell® EMEA. Mr. Seibt was formerly president of SUSE LINUX, Inc., acquired by Novell in January, 2004.

Jack Messman, chairman and CEO of Novell, said, “I would like to thank Richard for his contributions to Novell, especially in the transition and integration of the SUSE® LINUX business. We wish him well in his future endeavors.””

Mr. Seibt’s duties will be assumed by Ron Hovsepian, president, Worldwide Field Operations.

Tiger “Caged by SMB, Active Directory Problems
A number of sites running Apple’s new “Tiger” operating system are experiencing problems with SMB file sharing and authentication with Microsoft’s Active Directory, Ziff Davis Internet News has learned.

Although Apple Computer Inc.’s Tiger increases support for Server Message Block file sharing and Active Directory, several sources say that the Finder fails to log on to Windows and Linux Samba file servers.”
